The Perkins County Area Arts Council was formed in July, 2003.  It has a five member board, with rotating terms.  Some of the possible things an art council can do, and our members have expressed an interest in doing are:

* Sponsor concerts and performances
* offer workshops for children and adults arts activities
* work with the Nebraska Arts Council
* operate an art gallery
* coordinate an "arts in the Park"
* support a community choir, theatre or band
* coordinate public art projects, such as murals
* promote arts education in local schools  (such as Artist in Residence program)
* support artists' projects
* act as an umbrella for community arts activities

Many of the members of PCAAC are not "hands on" artists, but are interested in the Arts and want to find an avenue to support that effort.   Many surrounding counties have Arts Councils and web sites and many members are excited to see that Perkins County has finally come "up to speed" in this regard.  Check out our "Links" for other Art Galleries in our area.  We have been cooperating with surrounding Arts Councils on several projects and uses this sites bulletin board to help spread the word.
