Marcia has exhibited at the McCook PTK, six-state competition, winning best of show in “other-media”. Her painting, “Hiding in the Moonlight”, won best of show at the Holyoke, Colorado Art Show, and took honorable mention at the 2005 Greeley, Colorado National Art Show and Sale. She’s had paintings exhibited at the Chadron State College juried art show, and at several Chase County Area Arts Council art shows.
Coming from an artistic background in decorative painting, and having studied Bauernmalerei with Sonja Wullschlager in Switzerland, Marcia now works mostly in water-media collage, painting her own tissue papers. She does collage interpretations from photographs, and many of her works are abstract, non-objective. She has also studied with Don Dernovich, Scottie Foster, Betty Baird, Carrie Burns Brown, and Donna Aldridge.
Raised in Kansas, Marcia, and her husband Bill, also lived in Arizona, Florida, Utah, and Germany before settling in his hometown of Imperial, Nebraska. They have 3 children: Maika-, Megan, and Lucas.
She holds an endorsement in art education K-12. Her formal education is from the University of Nebraska at Kearney, Arizona State University, Kansas State University, Colorado State University, and McCook Community College. |
