Basswood is a light and fairly soft wood with a fine grain and is off white in color. It is a preferred wood for wood carving as it takes fine detail, sands easy and takes stain and paint well. An excellent wood for many small projects such as model building, scroll sawing, wood burning, relief carving, etc. |
